ICPEL: About Us
Established in the U.S.A. in 1947 as NCPEA, the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership (ICPEL) is dedicated to the enhancement, advancement and continuing professionalization of the educational leadership professoriate. Our members are both scholars and many are former school practitioners (principals and local, county and state superintendents). The advancement of our field and its continuing relevance and effectiveness requires a unique blend of research and practice. Those hallmarks have always been the imprimatur of our organization since its inception. ICPEL’s goals and objectives are to:

Institutional Membership Brings These Benefits to Your Program
MEMBERSHIP FEES
The institutional membership fees are:
-For a program with 3 or less full time faculty (FTE) of both tenure track and clinical $375.00 per annum
-For a program with 4-8 FTE faculty, $475.00 per annum
-For a program with 9 or more FTE faculty, $575.00 per annum
(note: adjuncts are not counted in as full time faculty but may also be included in access to services and activities)
HOW TO BECOME AN INSTITUTIONAL MEMBER
To join ICPEL as an institutional member call Dr. James Berry at jberry@emich.edu and submit a letter of application indicating the FTE faculty who are a part of your program. Only state/national accredited programs are eligible for membership. Once approved your institutional will receive an invoice for payment and be eligible for all organizational benefits.
Institutional Membership Brings These Benefits to Your Program
- Library subscriptions to Educational Leadership Review and International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation
- Representation on the National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA) which holds the copyright for the national PSEL and NELP standards. It also administers the NELP accreditation process in cooperation with the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)
- Refereed publication outlets for faculty seeking to publish scholarship in the field of educational leadership
- Service opportunities to be involved in an international organization such as ICPEL’s Educational Leaders Without Borders and other international scholars working on global educational and political issues
- Multiple accesses to current information on issues, problems, promising best practices in the field of educational leadership
- Support and assistance for understanding, navigating and completing the accreditation process leading to national accreditation at the program level in educational leadership
- Membership in ICPEL as a national/international political and advocacy body that represents most of the programs that prepare educational leaders in the nation and the world.
