Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in education from an accredited institution of higher learning. Candidates who have completed all doctoral work but have not yet defended their dissertation at the time of the application will also be considered, although candidates must have completed their degree by the time of hire.
- Candidates must have experience with or a willingness to learn about improvement science.
- Candidates must value the integration of applied and theoretical research knowledge, the use of field-based experiences, and collaborative work with diverse stakeholders to effect positive change in the lives of individuals and the communities in which they live.
- Ability to teach courses in research methods, equity/social justice, educational leadership, and/or other courses within the candidate’s area of expertise at the doctoral level.
- Experience in PK-12 school district leadership.
- A record of research and scholarship focusing on social justice, progressive education, and/or school-based reforms that serve low-income or other marginalized communities.
- Experience with online teaching and a familiarity with distance learning trends and best practices.

Assistant Professor (K-12 Educational Leadership) Department of Leadership and Counseling at Eastern Michigan University
General Summary
The Department of Leadership and Counseling is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position with specialization in K-12 Educational Leadership to begin in August 2021. Faculty members are expected to focus on teaching, scholarship, and service as well as collaborate with colleagues across the university. The candidate will be expected to teach and mentor graduate students in an online environment and engage in doctoral level work, chairing and serving on dissertation committees.
Eastern Michigan University is located in Ypsilanti, adjacent to Ann Arbor and 45 minutes from downtown Detroit. The Educational Leadership Program within the Department of Leadership and Counseling offers an undergraduate LEAD minor, three distinct master-level program tracks for aspiring educational leaders, and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership. The
K-12 master’s level programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as well as being approved by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for administrative certification and central office endorsement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice evidenced in teaching, scholarship, and service
- Contribute to learning and knowledge development by teaching intellectually dynamic graduate and undergraduate courses that address leadership within pluralistic contexts
- Create and co-construct transformative curriculum and enact pedagogy to reflect and support inclusive excellence
- Provide academic advising to diverse students
- Provide service to department, college, university committees, and impact local and global communities
- Contribute to scholarship and explore interdisciplinary implications and academic pursuits to add to the field and remain current in their respective disciplines
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice evidenced in teaching, scholarship, and service
- A doctorate, or earned doctorate by August 2021, in educational leadership/administration or a related field from an accredited institution
- Prior experience as a P-12 educator, preferably in a leadership role
- Previous teaching experience with preference for graduate-level teaching and teaching in an online environment
- Promise and demonstrated skills to establish or continue a research agenda evidenced by publications
- Previous experience with or demonstrated ability to supervise dissertation research
Desired Qualifications
- Administrative experience as a P-12 building or central office leader
- Scholarship, expertise, and teaching interests within one or more of the following areas: organizational theory, supervision of instruction, school law, building or site level leadership, central office level leadership, allocation of resources (i.e., human, facilities, and material)
- Experience in qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods research
- Desire or demonstrated experience in advising students
- Experience acquiring or pursuing external funding
- Engagement in local, regional or national organizations
The successful candidate will serve an eight-month, tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. A competitive salary will be based on qualifications and prior experience.
Eastern Michigan University may consider up to two years of credit for service at another institution at the Assistant Professor rank. The start date should be no later than August 29, 2021.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Education
At St. Lawrence University, we believe that the liberal arts offer an essential foundation for leadership. We are looking for a colleague to teach courses and mentor students in our graduate program in leadership. A majority of our graduate students are coaches or staff members at St. Lawrence University. The person hired into the position will teach 2 graduate courses and 1 undergraduate course in our educational studies minor each semester.
We are looking for someone who can teach courses in the theory and practice of leadership and who can teach courses on the history, theory, or practice of higher education. We expect that the person in this position will bring a focus on social justice to their work, and we are particularly interested in someone with a background in critical race theory, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies and related intellectual frameworks. An ability to teach quantitative methods or supervise master’s projects that use quantitative methods is a plus. We expect candidates will have mentoring and teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level.
As a department we believe that faculty members should teach from their passions, and the person in this position will have a great deal of freedom to develop the courses they will teach. Because we value having a colleague who is excited to share their passions with our students, we ask that you provide a list of five courses you would like to teach at St. Lawrence along with a brief (3-5 sentence) description of these courses when you apply.
We expect this position will be renewed for a second year, and there is the possibility that it will extend beyond this initial two-year period.
Minimum Qualifications
· An earned doctorate in leadership (broadly understood) or higher education (also broadly understood) at the time of appointment;
· A tangible commitment to social justice;
· Experience teaching and mentoring at the post-secondary level; and
· An understanding and appreciation of a liberal arts approach to graduate education.
Preferred Qualifications
· An ability to teach quantitative research methods
· Experience teaching graduate-level courses in leadership or higher education
