Eileen Johnson I have been an active and avid member of NCPEA / ICPEL since 2004, when I was hired as a faculty member at Oakland University, which was an institutional member. I have presented and published extensively through NCPEA/ICPEL/ELWB and served as an Executive Board Member of NCPEA from 2013 – 2017. I was President-Elect in 2014-2015 and served as President in 2015-2016. During my two years as President-Elect and President of NCPEA, I worked with MAPEA (the Michigan state affiliate of NCPEA) to bring the annual conference to Detroit Michigan and also implemented systematic changes to the conference peer review process. In addition, at the request of the Executive Director at the time, I designed and disseminated a national survey of faculty in programs of educational leadership to gauge knowledge of and interest in NCPEA. Finally, I have served numerous times as a conference proposal reviewer and co-editor of the International Journal of Educational Leadership from 2020 – 2023.

Mariela Rodriguez My experience with NCPEA/ICPEL has been long-standing. I have been a member for over a decade. Several years ago I served as a non-voting member on the NCPEA board as a representative for Hispanic Serving Institutions. This experience was invaluable, and I enjoyed learning the inner workings of NCPEA’s mission. After the transition to ICPEL, I continued to present at the annual conference. Then in 2024 I was a member of the conference planning committee for the conference in San Antonio. That same year I was honored to be invited to offer a keynote address at the conference. In addition to supporting ICPEL through service, I have also been active with the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) where I served as President from 2017-2018. From 2021-2024 I served as Division A Vice President with the American Educational Research Association (AERA). Related to AERA, is my current role as Co-Editor of the American Educational Research Journal (AERJ). Prior to that I served as Co-Editor for the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership (JCEL).

Additionally, I have served as a proposal reviewer and have contributed to professional learning communities focused on principal preparation and leadership development. Beyond ICPEL, I have been involved in other professional associations, including: • The American Educational Research Association (AERA) Research on Women and Education (RWE) Special Interest Group (SIG) • The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) • Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) • Texas Council of Women School Executives (TCWSE) In these organizations, I have served on boards, contributed to committees, and participated in conference planning efforts.

Nahed Abdelrahman My relationship with ICPEL is longstanding and substantive. Since 2015, I have presented annually at ICPEL conferences, covering topics such as mentoring, internship structures, policy validation, and equity in leadership preparation. These sessions have included collaborative research with colleagues as well as independent work, and I have contributed to ICPEL publications and proceedings. ICPEL has provided an academic home for much of my work on principal preparation and remains a key platform for connecting with leadership scholars who are committed to applied impact. Beyond presentations, I have actively engaged with the ICPEL Executive Board through its international initiatives. In 2024, I participated in the ICPEL-sponsored faculty-led trip to Guatemala, which focused on global leadership and culturally responsive engagement. Building on that experience, I am currently leading the planning and coordination of the 2026 ICPEL trip to Egypt. This initiative will provide members with opportunities to explore international school leadership practices and deepen cross-cultural professional exchange, particularly in regions often overlooked in leadership discourse. I am also deeply committed to ICPEL’s scholarly mission. Since 2013, I serve for the ICPEL journals. I currently serve as a senior or associate editor for three ICPEL-affiliated journals: Mentoring and Tutoring: Partnership in Learning, Advancing Women in Leadership, and the Education Law and Policy Briefs Journal. Through these editorial roles, I support the development and dissemination of high-quality research, mentor emerging scholars, and contribute to the intellectual direction of the field. My editorial work reflects my investment in building rigorous, relevant, and inclusive scholarship that aligns with ICPEL’s values. In the broader professional community, I have served in multiple leadership roles, including as Member-at-Large and newsletter co-editor for the AERA Learning and Teaching in Educational Leadership (LTEL) SIG. I have also been a UCEA Jackson Scholar, chaired graduate student award committees, and contributed to various academic service initiatives. These roles demonstrate a consistent commitment to advancing the profession through mentorship, scholarship, and collaborative service.
