The Rosemary Papa International Leadership Award. This award will be given each year to an ICPEL (or ELWB) member who demonstrates commitment to the values that Rosemary has dedicated her career to, including social justice, the basic human right of education, equality, and opportunity.

Criteria for Papa Award
Recognizes an outstanding scholar or school practitioner with an international perspective
Nominated by an ICPEL/ELWB member
Stipend of $500 paid towards attendance to receive the award at the ICPEL/ELWB meeting. ICPEL meets yearly and ELWB (often with ICPEL) every 2 years ICPEL/ELWB scholar or practitioner who has demonstrated leadership in terms of international scholarship and/or service to the profession- including, but not limited to:
Nomination and Selection
Nomination letter from a current ICPEL/ELWB member highlighting why the recipient is deserving of the award
A small committee (consisting of donors, namesake and past award recipients) will review nomination letters and select a recipient
Acknowledgement that the potential recipient will attend/present at ICPEL/ELWB conference to receive the award
Timeline:
October- notice goes out to ICPEL/ELWB membership for nomination letters
November- nomination letters received by review committee.
End of January – recipient notified.
ICPEL/ELWB Conference- recipient introduced to attendees at award session and check awarded.
Funding:
Initial funding was provided by a group of the Living Legends. Donation capability is now open to all ICPEL and ELWB members.

- Published scholarship which centers on international issues;
- Practitioner in a school setting fostering international perspectives;
- The development of a colleague relationship with an international colleague for joint research and/or practice;
- Work with an international educational agency;
- Recipient of a Fulbright award; and
- Commits to attending the ICPEL/ELWB conference to receive the award.
