Criteria for Papa Award
Purpose and Recognition
The award celebrates those who bridge the gap between local leadership and global educational perspectives. Recipients are formally introduced and honored during a dedicated award session at the ICPEL/ELWB Conference.
Eligibility & Criteria
Nominees must be active members of ICPEL and/or ELWB. We seek individuals who have demonstrated excellence in international leadership, which may include:

- Scholarship: Published research centering on international educational issues.
- Practice: School-based leadership that actively fosters international perspectives.
- Collaboration: Developing meaningful partnerships with international colleagues for joint research or practice.
- Global Engagement: Professional work with international educational agencies or organizations.
- Distinction: Previous recognition of international merit, such as being a recipient of a Fulbright award.
Note: Nominees must commit to attending the ICPEL/ELWB conference to receive the award in person.
Nomination & Selection Process
How to Nominate:
- A current ICPEL/ELWB member must submit a formal nomination letter to the ICPEL Executive Director at [email protected] highlighting the candidate's contributions and explaining why they deserve this international recognition.
- A committee reviews all nomination letters to select the annual recipient.
- The recipient is introduced to the membership and presented with their award at the Annual ICPEL Conference
