GENERAL PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
Proposal Submission Information:
There is a 4 presentation maximum.
If you submit more than 4, only the first 4 submitted will be reviewed.
- Please fill out the submission form completely and submit no later than 5/1/22, 11:59 p.m.
- New this year:
- There is no late author window. Proposal submissions will close 5/1/22.
- All individuals who submit a proposal will be required to review 1 proposal submission between 5/2-5/15/22.
- Authors will be notified around 6/1/22.
- Accepted presenters must register for the Denver Conference by 6/22/22 to be included in printed materials.
- Registration fees include the annual member dues.

All proposals go through a double blind peer review process.

- K-12 Leadership Training - What skills and/or strategies will leaders-in-training and teachers have to acquire to effectively educate youth in a global society? What policy changes – state, federal, and/or local – are necessary to ensure equitable opportunities for success in the education system?
- Higher Education Leadership - What skills and/or strategies will higher educational leaders have to acquire to effectively educate youth in a global society?
- International Leadership
- Justice, Equity, Democracy, & Inclusion - What changes in education pedagogy, policies, procedures, and practices are necessary to ensure that all vulnerable youth, irrespective of race, gender, immigrant status, or sexual orientation, receive a world class education? How do leaders address change structures, processes and cultures to be more inclusive?
- Technology and Innovation - What innovative leadership avenues have been created due to times of great change? What new technologies have become available to build community and a sense of engagement in learning?

Proposal Types
Paper Sessions
Papers present reports of significant work or integrative reviews in research, development, applications, and societal issues related to all aspects of the conference topics. This would be a formal presentation of research.
Presentation time: 20 minutes and 5 minutes Q/A
Submission proposal length: Up to 8000 characters (about 1000 words)
The submission should clearly indicate:
- Who is the target population for the research;
- The major aspects of the research;
- The context or motivation for the research; and
- Possible solutions or opportunities for collaborative partnerships to improve the problem.
Roundtable Discussion
Presentation time: 50 minutes shared between 2-3 presentations
Submission proposal length: Up to 8000 characters (about 1000 words)
Showcasing innovations and insights in education. Presentations will cover creative and learning technologies. Practitioners can share activities, tools, curriculum currently experiencing success at their institution! This session will have 2-3 presenters in one virtual room for a more informal conversation about a similar topic rather than a formal presentation.
Poster Presentations - Will be presented 8/4 at 5pm during the President's Reception

Poster sessions enable researchers and non-commercial developers to demonstrate and discuss their latest results and developments in progress in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with similar projects. Description should emphasize the problem, what was done, and why the work is important. Poster/Demonstration sessions researchers discuss their proposed research or their latest results and developments in progress in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with researchers of similar interests or projects.
Poster/Demonstration-proposals-must-include: description of the planned Poster Research; should emphasize the problem, problem context or setting, research questions, methodology, what was done, and why the work is important and findings, if applicable.
Recommended content for the poster includes:
- A clear statement of the purpose or goals of the research (i.e., the primary research questions or issues being addressed)
- A brief summary of the theoretical or conceptual foundation for the work
- A description of the methodology being used and the project findings (if applicable), and the theoretical and/or practical significance and implications of the research.
- Make your poster visually appealing.
- Be creative.
- Incorporate color.
- Use photographs, graphs, charts, maps, and the like.
- Be attentive to the layout and placement of your materials.
- Be creative.
Research in Progress
To encourage participation by graduate students and junior faculty, seminars will be scheduled to allow graduate students and junior faculty to summarize research proposals, including theses or dissertations still in the developmental stage that have not yet been defended. In these sessions, a distinguished researcher will provide feedback to presenters. A distinguished researcher will lead session discussions. Students and junior faculty who wish to submit a proposal for this seminar should prepare a 2-page, typed (size 12 font), single-spaced summary. The summary should include (a) a statement of the problem, (b) the significance of the study, and (c) a description of the proposed methods and procedures. Please be sure to indicate that the submission is research in progress.
Proceedings Info: ICPEL does not publish a proceedings publication but we do encourage presenters to submit their papers for consideration to one of our three peer-reviewed journals; International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation, Education Leadership Review, or Education Leadership Review of Doctoral Research.
