Advocacy
ICPEA members advocate for excellence in education and leadership preparation. Members in engage in public policy to inform the creation and implementation of laws, including regulations and legislation in Illinois. Members also engage in research and publication, using their scholarship to advocate for informed public policy and effective practices in all areas of education.
Part 30: Principal Preparation Workgroup
Chair: DR. ED HOWERTON
This workgroup has met since 2019 to propose new regulations regarding principal preparation in Illinois. In November 2021, the Illinois State Board of Education approved proposed rules changes that aligned with several positions of ICPEL. The proposed Part 30 rules are now available for public comment.
Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leadership Standards Workgroup
Chair: DR. DAVID CONRAD
This workgroup is focused on implementing the Illinois Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leadership standards in school leadership preparation programs. The group has discussed the importance of preparing leaders to meet the needs of all learners.
