The Achilles-Hoyle Service Award is one of the highest national honors bestowed by the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership (ICPEL). This prestigious award recognizes leadership scholars and faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional, faithful, and active service to ICPEL and to the broader community of professors dedicated to preparing future K–12 and higher education leaders.

Named in honor of two foundational giants in the field of educational administration--Dr. Charles Achilles and Dr. John Hoyle—this award celebrates the spirit of servant leadership. Both Dr. Achilles and Dr. Hoyle were long-time pillars of ICPEL and were previously honored as ICPEL "Living Legends" (Dr. Hoyle in 1999 and Dr. Achilles in 2001) for their unparalleled contributions to our discipline.

- Sustained Institutional Service: Significant, multi-year contributions to ICPEL operations, such as serving on the Executive Board, managing committee initiatives, or leading institutional outreach.
- Academic Citizenship: Active involvement in advancing the organization's scholarly mission, including roles as journal editors, manuscript reviewers, or conference planners.
- Advocacy for the Profession: A demonstrated commitment to supporting fellow educational leadership professors and strengthening national standards for leadership preparation.

Nomination Requirements:
Submission Deadline: All nomination materials for the current cycle must be submitted by the third Monday in March annually.
The Achilles-Hoyle Service Award is officially presented each year at the ICPEL Annual Summer Conference.
Nomination Requirements:
- A formal letter of nomination outlining the nominee's service history within ICPEL.
- The nominee's current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Up to two supporting letters from current ICPEL members.
